City of Pittsburg and Pittsburg Redevelopment Agency

Major Downtown Mixed-Use Project

Meyers Nave assisted the Pittsburg Redevelopment Agency in negotiating a global settlement of open lawsuits for a major mixed use commercial-residential project.

With Meyers Nave’s assistance, the City of Pittsburg was able to purchase the promissory note on the 90-percent-complete first block as well as the two adjoining undeveloped blocks and reach a very favorable settlement of all of the claims.

The Vidrio development is the centerpiece of the Pittsburg Redevelopment Agency’s downtown revitalization plan. The developer walked away from the partially completed project in 2008, leaving behind claims in excess of $40 million, the center of much public controversy and concern.

The development includes 10,764 square feet of commercial and retail space, a pool and recreation center, and 75 moderate-income townhomes and apartments earmarked for owner occupation. The developer defaulted on the project during construction of the first block of the planned three-block development. The first block was 90 percent complete at the time the developer defaulted.
