Michael Sweet Joins Meyers Nave and Launches New Municipal Debt Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group

April 27, 2011 (SAN FRANCISCO, CA) – Meyers Nave announced today that Michael A. Sweet has joined the firm as Principal, launching the firm’s new Municipal Debt Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice group.

Michael Sweet has over 14 years of bankruptcy, litigation, and election law experience.  He has extensive experience representing clients in litigation before federal and California courts.  Mr. Sweet has provided counseling and advice to local governments on solvency issues including potential Chapter 9 bankruptcy filings.  He has also represented debtors, creditor trustees and creditors’ committees in bankruptcy cases throughout California.  Mr. Sweet also has significant bankruptcy litigation experience.

Mr. Sweet is a member of the State Bar of California and is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles School of Law.  He earned his B.A. at Brandeis University.  In addition to his numerous speaking engagements on bankruptcy, Mr. Sweet has published several articles on bankruptcy alternatives. Mr. Sweet is also the chair of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission.
