Appellate Specialist J. Scott Smith Joins Meyers Nave's Sacramento Office

Sacramento, CA – Meyers Nave announced today that J. Scott Smith has joined the firm as Of Counsel, expanding the firm’s well-known writs and appeals litigation practice group.

Scott Smith has over 19 years in civil appellate and trial litigation. He has extensive experience representing clients before the federal and California courts of appeals in over 60 complex cases and has accomplished a successful result in over 80% of the cases he has argued and tried.

“We are excited to have Scott join our Sacramento office as a member of the firm’s writs and appeals litigation practice group. His depth of knowledge in appellate law will be a great addition to the firm and allows us to continue to meet the growing needs of our public and private clients who face complex appellate law issues," said Meyers Nave Managing Principal Jayne Williams. Mr. Smith’s appellate practice focuses on public agency law. He has also litigated a wide variety of matters involving constitutional law, education law, environmental law, land use, employment law, business litigation, and Indian law.

Mr. Smith is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Northern Districts of California. He is a graduate of the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he graduated with distinction. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Zoology at the College of Idaho.
