Richard Rudnansky merged his successful municipal law and government entity defense litigation practice with Meyers Nave in 2000. Based in the firm’s Santa Rosa office, he maintains an active practice in municipal law and offers mediation services in general municipal/governmental law in addition to cases pertaining to property damage, tort and civil rights, inverse condemnation, environmental, land use and zoning, insurance, mobile home rent control, nuisance, and contracts.
Richard has been the Town Attorney of Windsor and General Counsel for the Windsor Water District and Windsor Redevelopment Agency since 2002. Since 2008, he has served as City Attorney for the City of Cotati. He is also currently General Counsel for the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority of Marin. He served as the Interim City Attorney of Modesto, managing an in-house staff of six attorneys and four support staff.
Previously, Richard served as City Attorney for the City of Larkspur, a position he held from 1986 to 2002. He was the City Attorney of Petaluma and General Counsel for the Petaluma Community Development Commission from 1989 to 2005.
Richard advises the Town of Windsor, City of Cotati and other clients on all aspects of municipal law, including land use, environmental issues, conflict of interest, Brown Act, public records requests, nuisance abatement and public works projects. In addition, he defends a wide variety of claims on behalf of governmental entities— including cities, counties, and school districts—in the areas of land use, civil rights, environmental law and torts (in both State and Federal Courts).
In connection with his mediation practice, Richard has completed many hours of mediation training, including training with the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, the Center for Mediation in Law and the American Institute of Meditation. He is a member of the Arbitration and Mediation Center.
